Crocodiles have been caught on camera ferociously wrestling over a large pig on the Adelaide River in Australia.
A viral video captured the two saltwater reptiles in the water. Named Brutus and Dominator, the pair is famous in the Northern Territory.
Footage shows one of the crocs gripping the dead pig in its mouth before swinging it into the air as the other reptile appears to sneak up on him.
The duo grapples violently in the muddy waters as they each try and lay claim to the carcass.
The water is so thrashed about by their enormous tails the crocs are almost obscured from view.
Tourists looking on from a nearby boat can be heard screaming and shouting in excitement as they watch the spectacle.
The crocodiles are both enormous creatures; Brutus measures 5.3m in length and Dominator 5m.
A fight between the two beasts is a rare site, Harry Bowman of Adelaide River Cruises told local news site NT News, as they normally live in different parts of the river.
“They rolled around in the river for a few minutes but luckily nobody was hurt as they haven’t got any teeth,” Bowman said.
Brutus is estimated to be 84 years old, hence the lack of the teeth.
Dominator lived up to his name and managed to triumph in the ruckus, swimming off with the pig in his mouth.
“Dominator disappeared for a couple of days but he turned up again with a belly twice as big as what it usually is – no doubt full of pork,” Bowman said.
This is not the first time the two crocodiles have hit headlines with their aggressive behaviour.
Last year Brutus was spotted with a huge flesh wound which many presumed was the work of Dominator.
However, Bowman told NT News he believed it was more likely a third crocodile trying to invade Brutus’s territory.
“Dominator doesn’t like him, that’s for sure, but we take care to keep them apart,” he said.
Bowman added that the pair had learned to mostly avoid each other other years and respected each other’s turf.
Last week a shocking video emerged from Thailand in which a crocodile nearby bites the arm off his trainer.
The alarming footage shows the reptile wrestling ferociously with the trainer before the man successfully manages to pull his arm – thankfully still intact – free.
Gory pools of blood are left on the wet tiled floor next to the avenged reptile.
