A hilarious video of a calf that got its head caught in a gate on a Cork farm has gone viral.
In the short video clip – which was posted on social media over the weekend – the calf is seen looking a little confused with its head stuck through a bit of a cattle pen.
A local man came across the funny sight, and is heard asking the calf what’s going on and tells it to “put the gate back where you found it like a good lad”.
The calf is seen trotting off to – presumably – do just that.
The video has already been shared tens of thousands of times online over the weekend and has put smiles on the faces of a lot of people in Co Cork and beyond.
And the man behind it, Shane Martin, told CorkBeo.ie he’s “shocked” that it’s suddenly gone viral, reaching people all over the world.
He said: “This has come out of nowhere – because I shot that a year ago and just shared it with friends on snapchat back then and then forgot all about it,
“Then I was in the local on Saturday night and the Aghabullogue football team came in and the lads were showing me, I was a bit shocked, I have no idea how it went wild.”
The steel erector, from Coachford in Cork, says he shot it a year ago while he was helping a friend cut some timber on a farm near Macroom.
He said: “We came around the corner and there was this calf with he head through a gate, so we had a bit of a laugh about it.”
Shane says he’s delighted that people are getting a bit of craic out of his short video – but he has no plans to exploit his new found fame.
