MANILA – The businessman who was caught in a viral video while allegedly manhandling traffic enforcers has been detained at Camp Bagong Diwa, but not at a jail cell as his blood pressure shot up again.
Businessman Arnold Padilla last week was placed in hospital arrest at a private facility due to his high blood pressure. He was transferred to Camp Crame’s hospital last Sunday.
Authorities caught Padilla spitting up his medicines at the hospital to allegedly keep his blood pressure high, said Chief Inspector Paterno Domondon Jr., deputy chief of the Metro Manila police Special Operations Unit.
Padilla’s lawyer denied this, saying that his client has a health problem and should stay at the hospital.
Police rejected this and transferred the businessman to Camp Bagong Diwa, but his blood pressure spiked again.
He was detained at an interrogation room, where his health is being monitored, said Domondon.
The businessman will not be given special treatment, he said.

Padilla, his partner and bodyguards made headlines last month after surveillance footage showed them mauling traffic enforcers who flagged down their vehicle for beating the red light on EDSA-Magallanes.
The businessman was arrested after officers found several unlicensed firearms and grenades in a separate raid of his home in Magallanes Village, Makati.
Padilla’s lawyer claimed officers planted the grenades during the raid, a claim denied by the police.
Padilla was charged with illegal possession of firearms and explosives, direct assault and physical injuries.
