This week saw the start of Royal Ascot, with the annual five day horse race being a favourite of royals and celebrities alike.

It’s tradition for royal family members to join the Queen on the first day of Royal Ascot, with a full house showing up last year.

This year was no exception, and while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were absent, with the Duchess still being on maternity leave, there were still plenty of Mountbatten-Windsors in attendance, from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

One family member who made his presence known was Mike Tindall, who was caught on video pranking the Queen herself, as he lifted his top hat in a greeting to reveal a tiny top hat inside.

The joke certainly seemed to go well, with the Queen chuckling while Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Princess Beatrice burst out laughing.

‘It is a chocolate hat that I am taking home for my daughter Mia,’ Mike Tindall explained to The Telegraph‘s royal correspondent Camilla Tominey. ‘I was given it at lunch but it is really annoying to store in a pocket so I decided to put it in my top hat instead.

And when asked whether the Queen was a fan, he replied: ‘They are your words, not mine!’

This is hilarious.
