Student Translates ‘The Goat’ As Cristiano Ronaldo In French Exam

It’s a horrible, helpless feeling when you find yourself plonked before an exam question which may as well be written in Elvish.

Now, I’m not in any way shape or form qualified to dish out exam advice. But surely in such a situation it’s better to give a hilarious answer than write nothing at all…

This was the dilemma which faced 15-year-old Ahmed Nabil during the sort of French exam many of us will recall with a haunted shudder.

Ahmed was faced with a variety of different animals that he had to name in French. Ahmed was completely stumped when he came to a picture of a goat and – rather than try and give a ‘serious’ answer – he decided to have a bit of a laugh.

Beneath the picture of the goat, Ahmed wrote ‘un Ronaldo’, signifying of course his belief that the five-time Ballon d’Or champ is the ‘greatest of all time’. Perhaps unsurprisingly, his joke answer earned him a big red cross.

Speaking with SPORTbible, Ahmed explained his thought process behind the exam paper, which has since gone viral.

He said: “It was a French exam I did two years ago. For me personally, it was a very hard test and one of the sections was: write the meaning of every animal we show you, but in French.

“I couldn’t remember what a goat was called in French, so I thought I’d do something creative and make a couple of my mates laugh instead of just leaving it empty.”

Ahmed – who supports Manchester United – revealed he is actually a bit torn between who truly is ‘the goat’.

He continued: “If anyone asks me who I think is the goat is, I’ll tell him them Ronaldo, but deep down I’m not that sure.

“Sometimes I think that Messi is better, but because of my bias, the former United player is the greatest.”

Carrying on with his French exam, Ahmed encountered yet another challenge when he found one of the boxes had accidentally been left blank.

The budding comedian decided to use this as a window of opportunity to carry on his football theme, writing ‘un Ozil’ in reference to Arsenal midfielder Mesut Özil.

Ahmed told SPORTbible: “The other blank box was a mistake by the teacher, so I thought I’d continue my ‘football-themed’ answer and write Özil.

“When the teacher finally gave me the exam she literally had no reaction. I don’t think she even knew who Ronaldo and Özil were, so she didn’t tell me anything afterwards.”

Ahmed may have failed his French exam, but he’s received an A* on Twitter for his daft antics, with his test being liked more than 16,000 times at the time of writing.
