SPRINGFIELD — During an interview on Thursday, Angela Goodwin said multiple times, that she understands why the police were at the house and that it wasn’t all of the officers there whose actions she questions. But, she did say what she saw on video when she returned, like of some of them purposely breaking things, and what one officer specifically did when he saw her 3-week old kitten on the bed, was not okay.

“I was sick to my stomach, it made me sick,” said Goodwin explaining her reaction to watching video from her in-home cameras of Springfield Police executing a search warrant inside her house in late November.

“I mean, I understood to a point they have to go through stuff,” Goodwin said, “But, once I actually watched the video… that’s not what they were doing.”

She continued, “At first I was like, oh okay, and then I saw him squeezing her and throwing her and shaking her, and I was like, really? What is this man doing? And then, it just went on and on and on…”.

After posting the video on Facebook, Goodwin says people made comments saying that what happened wasn’t bad because the kitten didn’t run away.

“Her little legs were like flailing, and she’s like with her head sideways,” she said. “People said oh no, she kept coming back for more, no, she couldn’t even jump of the bed, so she was trapped basically.”

During their search, court documents say Springfield police found multiple cell phones, meth and cash that were all taken into evidence.

Goodwin says she understands why thee police were there, but that she decided to speak out because there were two things that alarmed her throughout the whole incident..

“It’s like every two seconds he’s grabbing her and shakes her, and throws her and grabs her up again,” Goodwin said. “And then he’ll go do something and come right back to her.. it was almost like an obsession.”
