SAQUON BARKLEY is a talent not to be sniffed at.
The rookie running back tipped for NFL greatness has already made his mark for the New York Giants – as a video of him apparently farting during a game has gone viral.
Not even the Giants could have anticipated Barkley stepping on the gas so quickly in their opening pre-season clash against – of course – the Cleveland Browns.
Barkley is an exciting arrival as the No 2 overall pick in this year’s draft.
And not only did he put the wind up the Browns, he also sent it up his sports pants – making his white field towel flap behind him as he bent over, poised for action.
Seasoned users of social media will instantly have smelt a hit at such a moment.
And so it proved, with a team-mate’s taunt among the many amused responses.
Veteran running back Jonathan Stewart accompanied laughing emojis with this message: “The wind out there’s acting crazy!”
Nonetheless, the Giants believe Barkley can help upgrade them into major contenders, having not won the Super Bowl since 2011.
And the 21-year-old certainly had the Browns in a flap with an impressive debut.
In fact, as the video wafted around the world, the debate was all about “did he or didn’t he?” in that one short clip – rather than whether he was good enough in the rest of the match.
He was full of beans overall as he carried the ball four times for 43 yards, including one stupendous 39-yard surge.
Barkley’s performance certainly provided a ripping yarn and now he must hope his first big challenge is all behind him.
