Whenever Swedish model Emma Hallberg posts a selfie on Instagram, she easily gets at least 12,000 likes in less than a day. (Can’t relate.) Now, she’s totally gorgeous, but her glow is what truly compels people to double tap. The high points of her face consistently appear to be bathed in a golden pigment that would make Midas jealous. However, it’s not your standard gold highlighter — in fact, Hallberg actually swears by a loose eye shadow from Make Up Store for her luminescence.
Make Up Store may be a new name to you, but Hallberg says it’s a well-known cosmetic company where she lives in Sweden. When she first got into highlighters, she started to search for one that would give her skin “a good glow with the right undertones,” she says. Enter: the Eyedust in Gold. “I immediately knew it was going to be my go-to highlighter,” she says.
So, why does Hallberg consider the Eyedust the perfect highlighter? “It has exactly the golden yellow tone and the blinding glow that I’m looking for in a highlighter,” she explains.
To maximize its illumination, she starts off by applying her foundation. “For a natural, everyday makeup look, I use the Maybelline New York Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation,” she says. “But if I want extra coverage for a night out, I use the Make Up Store Sculpt Excellence Foundation.” Then, Hallberg spritzes her face with the Make Up Store Face Mist.
After letting it dry, she sweeps the Eyedust onto the high points of her face with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brush #23. She follows these same steps when she uses other highlighters, too. Her current favorites are the Nyx Born To Glow Highlighter and the ColourPop Strobe Globe Luster Dust.
Once her makeup is done, Hallberg likes to photograph her look with her phone. “I prefer to take my pictures with my iPhone 7 Plus in the sunlight,” she says. “That’s when the glow shows the most.” In fact, most of what she calls her “signature looks” are captured as the sun is about to go down. Naturally, the golden hour is the time of day best suited for photographing her otherworldly glow.
You can shop the Make Up Store Eyedust for $16 on makeupstorecosmetics.com. Go ahead, get your glow on. ✨
