Liverpool Fan’s Tweet Of Van Dijk Playing Against Barcelona Goes Viral Despite Celtic Losing 6-1

Virgil van Dijk will be hoping that his experience of playing against Barcelona will be much better with Liverpool than it was with Celtic.

The Premier League title-challenging side booked their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League after thrashing Porto, but Jürgen Klopp’s men are well aware of the tough task of beating the Spanish club in the next round.

However, a fan-made Liverpool Twitter account, LFCGlobe, didn’t receive the memo of van Dijk’s last match against the reigning La Liga champions after tweeting a clip of him playing at the Camp Nou back in 2013.

The 27-year-old centre-back was playing for Celtic at the time and put in a strong showing for his individual performance, but it doesn’t help his case that Barça thrashed the Scottish Premiership side 6-1.

As expected, football fans were quick to point out the scoreline on Twitter.

The former Southampton star recently touched on the upcoming clash with Barcelona in the Champions League, saying that he is unsure how Liverpool are going to stop Lionel Messi.

“How are we going to do it? I don’t know, we’ll see,” he said.

“It’s going to be a great match-up for all of us. It’s about doing it all together, it’s never one-v-one, it’s never just me against a particular striker.

“It’s always us against everyone and I think that’s the only way we can defend well.

“It’s going to be very hard [to stop Messi]. I think he’s the best player in the world but we’ll see. We’re very happy to be in the semi-final again.”
