A shocking video has emerged purporting to show Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger being verbally abused by a fan.
The short clip captures a man shouting “you’re f***ing s***”, supposedly at the Gunners boss, who walks away from the supporter holding the camera.
Initially the video, which went viral on social media, was heavily criticised by Arsenal fans as well as supporters of other clubs.
But a number of people now believe the clip to be fake, and have highlighted their reasons for thinking this.
The footage appeared to emerge on the back of Arsenal’s Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City, but it is in fact four months old.
What’s more, it appears that the abuse has been dubbed over the top of the original clip, which features a fan asking Wenger who he thinks will win the Premier League title this season.
The final issue with the video, pointed out by those who have watched it, is that Wenger is already walking away from the group before the man starts hurling abuse.
When the clip went viral on Tuesday, one Arsenal fan responded: “I’m ashamed to watch this video, fans are tired and bored, but this language is not a solution.”
While another added: “Just watched that video where Wenger got yelled at on [sic] his face. Not acceptable at all. Can’t stand such fans if at all he was!”
But others also took to Twitter to voice their uncertainty over whether it’s real.
Should Arsene Wenger quit as Arsenal manager at the end of the season?
