The weekend is here, ladies and gentlemen. It’s Friday, Sept. 14. College life can be busy, so at times it can be tough to keep up with the daily news cycle. That’s why we bring you Campus Connect, where you can catch the latest news in college sports and entertainment to keep on top of the buzz that everyone on campus will be talking about.

What happened last night? What events are coming up today? We have you covered with all of that and more.

College Sports News

After a fairly quiet Week 2 in terms of marquee matchups where the only really big wins came from Arizona State taking down Michigan State and Stanford holding off USC, we look ahead to the upcoming weekend. Each and every week, we take a look at the college football schedule to see which teams should be on Upset Alert. In Week 3, we have some College Football Playoff contenders that could find themselves in some serious trouble, while another program could have the door shut on the immediate revival its fans were hoping for.

Outside of big wins for both Arizona State and Stanford, it was a relatively calm Week 2 of the college football season. The same, however, cannot be said for the updated list of Heisman favorites, as we saw quite a few cases being made with some impressive performances from players like Dwayne Haskins, Jonathan Taylor, and AJ Dillon, who made the biggest jumps in the Heisman betting odds this past week.


Burke from the Lynchburg College equestrian team is checking in as today’s Girl of the Day and, well, we may need to start paying more attention to Lynchburg.


Entertainment News

We now know the desperate situation at the home of rapper Mac Miller before he passed away on Friday, Sept. 7 of a suspected drug overdose. TMZ has released audio of the 911 call reveals a friend was pleading with first responders to “please hurry” to the scene. Miller was pronounced dead on the scene and it has since reported that he had already been dead for hours.

Fortnite rumors are beginning to make the rounds again, with some believing that the game could be shutting down for good and ending on September 26. It isn’t the first time that the rumors have begun to swirl, but they’re in full swing once again.


Viral Clip of the Day

The Humboldt Broncos had an emotional return to the ice for their first regular-season game which comes five months after a bus crash claimed the lives of 16 players and coaches.


Food of the Day

The Cincinnati Bengals are spicing up their concessions at Paul Brown Stadium with a new bacon-wrapped hot dog topped with queso fresco, salsa verde, pinto beans, jalapenos, mustard, and more.
