Former Highland dancer Christine was left overwhelmed when staff at Queens Manor care home on Queensferry Road in Edinburgh organised 100 Highland dancers to perform for her for her 100th birthday recently.

The dancers performed a special show just for her to celebrate the milestone birthday.

Highland dancing is something close to Christine’s heart, as she was a dancer herself for many years.

STV News shared a video of Christine’s reaction to the show on their Facebook page which since gone viral; it’s had 265,000 views, 1,856 shares and 476 comments so far – and counting!

People took to the comments to wish Christine a happy birthday and express their delight at the performance.

One woman said: “What a wonderful thought for an obviously very special lady & well done all the dancers for being part of the celebrations”

Another said: Just amazing what the staff of Queens Manor Care Home organised for this lovely day. Well done all.’

Some of the young dancers who performed came from Inspire Dance Studios Limited in Perth. One said:

“Thank you ever so much for having us and a huge Happy Birthday to Christine on Thursday. Abbie, Sophie and Olivia from Inspire Dance Studios Limited in Perth. Had an amazing afternoon it was a super experience for these young dancers who are just starting out in learning Highland. It was a great opportunity for them to be part of the line up with hugely talented dancers.

“Many thanks again.”
