It’s one of the earliest contenders for things that broke the internet in 2018.

And just days after the Friends fake movie trailer went viral, Lisa Kudrow has given fans of the show hope once more, as she said ‘something should be done’ about the hype.

Appearing on this week’s Conan, the 54-year-old actress – who played Phoebe Buffay – was asked about the viral trailer which was spliced together using clips of the cast appearing in other TV shows following the last series in 2004.

Sitting down with the late night host on Wednesday, Lisa said she and her fellow stars had found the response to the clip – which has been viewed more than 7 million times – ‘insane’.

Quizzed about the trailer, the actress explained it was Courteney Cox who first found out about it.

Lisa confessed: ‘Courteney is the one who said, “did you see that trailer? Oh my God, what do we do?”

‘She said, “wow, how did that go viral?” I don’t know what to make of it, it’s just these weird clips which clearly have nothing to do with Friends, and it’s called Friends Movie.’

Discussing the possibility of a real reunion, the Romy and Michelle actress said she hoped that Friends did have a future.

‘Something should be done,’ she told Conan. ‘I don’t know what, they’re rebooting everything, I don’t know how that works with Friends though.’

Adding: ‘That was about people in their 20s/30s – the show isn’t about people in their 40s/50s. And if we have the same problems then that’s just sad.’

The trailer was posted under the title The One With The Reunion, and was created by YouTube channel Smasher, who specialize in creating concept trailers.

The plot line for the much-needed movie picks up a few years where the final season left off with Ben and Emma grown up.

‘Mike and Phoebe have trouble with marriage, Monica and Chandler are getting a divorce, Joey couldn’t find someone, and Ross and Rachel have trouble after many years of not being together,’ read the description.

‘Filled with some surprise appearances by today’s actors, along with some old friends (no pun intended), this movie will be an all-star extravaganza, while showing a lesson in being there for each other.’

Since it ended back in 2004 fans have been pining for a reunion, hoping for one last episode or even a full-length movie. They’ve recently being given a reprieve with Netflix airing the entire TV show on its streaming service both in the UK and US.
